Aenea Spa Clapham, London, provide you with our team of highly skilled therapists will help you to achieve the silky, smooth result you are wanting from hair removal. Using hot wax for intimate areas and strip wax for the larger areas, we are able to ensure comfort and speed within your waxing experience.
We use hot wax for our intimate areas such as bikini, underarm and facial waxing. With hot wax, the wax is spread thickly onto the skin and allowed to dry before being removed. As the wax is applied and left to dry it wraps itself around the individual hairs and pulls them directly from the root when it is removed. Meaning it is far less painful than strip wax and results in fewer in-grown hair and reduced hair breakage leading to longer re-growth periods.
We use strip wax for the thicker and less sensitive skin on the body such as legs, arms, back and chest. A thin layer of wax is applied to the skin and removed with a paper strip. These enables us to perform a speedy wax that will result in less discomfort and time.

What makes hot wax less painful?
Oil is applied to the skin before the application of the hot wax, this allows the wax to wrap around the hair and not stick to the skin, which means there is less tugging and more direct removal from the root.
Is waxing really painful?
The more regular you are with having waxing treatments, the less painful the treatment will become over time. This is because the hairs will become thinner and lighter. It’s hard to say how painful a wax will be for each individual as we all have different pain thresholds, however under the care of our expert therapists we try to make the treatment as painless as possible.
How long does the hair need to be?
For intimate areas using hot wax removal, the hairs can be as short as 1mm. For strip wax you will need length of about a 10mm.
How often should I be waxing?
Each guest’s hair growth will differ, but the average time between waxing appointments is about 4-6 weeks. It is more dependent on the length of the hair and the more regular you wax, the hair will become finer and sparse.
Can I go swimming after waxing?
As the skin and area can be sensitive after waxing, we would recommend that you avoid the following activities for at least 24 hours;
No hot baths or showers
No saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms or swimming pools.
No tanning beds, direct sunlight tanning or spray tanning
No extreme levels of perspiration ie. Gym and workouts
Do not apply deodorants, lotions or creams to the area.
I’m suffering from in-grown hairs, is there anything I can do?
Yes. We would recommend using our Aenea Fruit Acid Exfoliator, applied to the area with a cotton bud to exfoliate the dead skin around this area and aid in the easy removal of an ingrown hair. We would recommend using this product every 2-3 days on a cotton bud or pad on the area where you regularly suffer from in-grown hairs.
